We come to your Portland home, sit down with you, and work through whatever's going wrong — slow laptop, strange pop-ups, new computer setup, printer issues, anything. No shop trip, no jargon, no rushing. Just patient help, in person.
Is your Windows laptop or desktop acting up — running slow, showing strange errors, or just not doing what it used to? Maybe you just got a new computer and the whole thing feels overwhelming. Whatever's going on, we come to your home in Portland and work through it with you — no shop, no waiting, no tech speak. Just patient help, in person, at your pace.
A computer that takes forever to start or freezes in the middle of a task is one of the most common complaints we hear. We clean up unnecessary startup programs, remove temporary files, check for software updates, and make sure your machine is running as smoothly as possible. In many cases, a little housekeeping is all it takes to make your computer feel much faster.
Getting a new Windows laptop is exciting — but moving everything over so it feels like home can take hours if you don't know what you're doing. We come to your home, transfer all your files, photos, and documents from your old computer, get your email and printer connected, install the apps you use, and make sure the whole thing feels familiar before we leave. This is one of our most requested visits, and most people are surprised how smooth it can be.
If your computer is showing pop-ups you can't close, your browser's homepage changed without you doing it, or you're being told to call a phone number to "fix" your computer — there's a good chance something got installed that shouldn't be there. We come to your home, check your system, clear out any threats, and show you what to watch for so you can feel safe online again.
Lost photos, documents scattered across your desktop, or a "storage full" warning can be stressful. We help you organize your files into simple folders, set up cloud backup so your important documents and photos are safe, and free up space so your computer runs better.
We connect your printer, scanner, or external keyboard and make sure everything works together. If your printer has stopped working after an update, we troubleshoot the drivers and settings to get you printing again.
If your computer suddenly started behaving differently — your printer stopped working, your desktop looks different, settings moved, or a program you use every day has disappeared — there's a good chance a recent Windows update is behind it.
This happens constantly, especially after major Windows 10 or Windows 11 updates. And it's almost never as serious as it feels.

We also configure your computer to manage future updates better so they don't blindside you again.
No matter what kind of computer you have — a Windows desktop, a MacBook, a Chromebook, or an all-in-one — our technicians are experienced with all major platforms. We adapt to whatever system you're comfortable with and never pressure you to switch.

Yes — a slow or freezing computer is one of the most common reasons people call us. We come to your home, check what's causing it (usually startup programs, full storage, or a recent update), and clear out whatever's bogging it down. Most people notice a significant difference before the visit is over.
No. ElderTech comes directly to your home in Portland. There's no need to unplug anything, pack it up, or drive anywhere. We handle everything right at your home so you can watch, ask questions, and learn along the way.
Yes — and this is probably the single most common call we get. Windows updates frequently overwrite the driver (the software that connects your computer to your printer), and suddenly your printer acts like it doesn't exist. The printer is fine, the computer is fine — they just stopped talking. We reinstall the correct driver and get you printing again, usually in about 30 minutes.
That's the most common way people describe it — and it's plenty to go on. You don't need to know what's wrong. Just describe what you're seeing or what changed, and we'll figure out the rest once we're there. "Something's different and I don't like it" is a perfectly complete description.
